Cherrystones Golf Society
Membership and Competition Rules 2003 Amended 2007 Amended 2019.
1.Joining Fee £40.00.
All lapsed members will be charged £40.00.
2. Annual and Subscriptions.
To be paid by the last Wednesday in February in order to ensure continued membership. Should a member let his membership lapse, that member will be charged £5.00 late fee to renew his membership. Annual subscriptions are to be decided at the A.G.M. Members over 75 are exempt from the annual fee
3. Monthly Medal.
Dates are as Cherry Lodge Golf Club diary. Should the course be closed or there be a conflicting event which prevents the medal taking place on that Wednesday, then the medal will be played on the first available Wednesday.
The last qualifying medal will be the December Medal.
4. Gold Cup.
The competition will take place from the 1st Wednesday in February till the last Wednesday in December and there should be no more than 4 temporary greens.
All member’s stableford points will be recorded, the best six qualifying for the Gold Cup. The winner will be the member who has the highest total. The winner will receive a prize at the annual prize giving.
5. Consistency Medal League.
The first members in each months medal competition will receive points, 1st 10 points through to 10th 1 point the consistency league table winner will be the member who has the highest number of points after the last medal competition.
The competition will run February to December inclusive. The winner will receive a prize at the annual prize giving.
6. Major Competitions.
The following competitions will be classed as Major competitions and will be played for each year. The Dave Cook Trophy, Cornucopia Cup, Don Stokes, Inaugural Cup, The Mid-summer Scroll,The Silver Jubilee and Lorenzo’s Trophy and Captains Day.
Member’s and guest’s will pay the full day’s expenses on the majors and Turkey Trot if they have agreed to attend, if a member pulls out within 7 Day’s of the Major, full payment will have to be paid. Member’s not dining but paying the full days expenses may still win the major competition.
Winner’s of Major’s will be cut two shots from their currant Cherrystones handicap, until that Major is played again The following year.
7. Player of the Year.
This competition will run from the first week in February to the last Wednesday in December.
The winner will be the player whose handicap has fallen by the most when divided by his category. The Trophy will be presented at the annual prize giving.
8. General Play.
NO “GIMMEES” whatsoever in stableford or stroke play competition.
Player’s are expected to pick up, should they be unable to score any hole whilst playing stable ford.
9. Knock Out Competitions.
Only members who have paid their full subscriptions by or on the A.G.M.
Will be eligible to take part.
The draw will take place at the end of the A.G.M.
These matches do not have to be played on a Wednesday.
All matches must be played by the date specified on the draw sheet, if matches are not played on time, one or both of the player’s will be eliminated from the competition. The competition secretary in conjunction with the captain will make this decision.
THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
These trophies will be annual match play knockout competition over 18 holes. Matches still level after 18 holes will then continue down the first in sudden death play-off.
10. Abandoned Knockout Matches.
Are as per the rules of golf.
11. Draw.
April to October 1pm.
November to February 11am.
12. Guests.
Cherry Lodge Members will pay £5 guest fee..
Non Cherry Lodge Members will pay the green fee.
Only members of The Cherrystones Golf Society qualify to win prizes.
13. Handicaps.
Member’s handicaps will be revised after each competition.
There must be a minimum of 14 Green’s for handicap adjustment.
14. New Members.
The committee reserves the right to veto on all new members.
THESE RULES REPLACE ANY PREVIOUS RULES.
